E-commerce Industry in 2016 according to Assocham.

Latest News on E-commerce by ASSOCHAM 



The Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) which is serving India from 1920 and is said to be the Knowledge architect of India. It is a non-profit organization, facilitating India's business  through all around the world, for wanting to do business with India. It has contributed significantly by acting as a catalyst in shaping up the Trade, Commerce and Industrial environment in India.

According to ASSOCHAM, increasing internet and mobiles usage, growing acceptance towards online payments because of recent empowerment in last few years, e-commerce sector in India has a huge upwards curve in demo graphs. Also the connectivity b/w sellers around buyers has also increased in the past few years. According to ASSOCHAM the e-commerce industry in the country is likely to be worth 2.51 lakh crores in 2016 a huge jump over 2015 1.52 lakh crore revenue as per industry body of ASSOCHAM. So for all the start up companies the stats are very much favoring. Also lot's of Foreign companies showing interest to back start up's in India is a huge plus.

It also stated that purchasing trends during 2016 will witness a huge upward movement because of the discounts that online stores offers and also rising fuel prices, choice of selection through multiple stores online is easy compared to go out and shop in multiple stores. Other major factor that increasing the e-commerce is m-commerce which is growing in a stable way as e-commerce.

ASSOCHAM also stated that if the growth continues at this pace the m-commerce industry will take a huge upwards curve contributing to 70% of their total revenues.

1) Almost 65% of online shoppers in India are males and only 35% are females and we still say womens shop a lot.

2) Almost 52% of people who are shopping are b/w ages 26-35.
